SSI operates and maintains an extensive Communications (Comm.) and Information Technology (IT) infrastructure to help accomplish our customer’s mission. The Comm. and IT infrastructure provides service for both internal (within the SSI facilities) and external (Western Range, commercial telephone and internet) interfaces. Both systems are engineered to provide maximum flexibility and capacity. SSI’s communications system provides the following type of services:
.Voice communication systems (DICES III) digital voice, PBX and dedicated phone/FAX lines, and analog voice (SCAPE nets, Public Address and audio recording) systems. All voice communication systems are integrated to provide a highly flexible and seamless customer interface with ample capacity to meet customer requirements and interface with the Western Range and commercial phone trunks.
.Video systems with cameras at the SLC-8 launch complex as well as throughout the IPF processing facility. SSI provides customer camera pan/tilt/zoom control and video monitors in customer occupied areas of the IPF. High quality video recording is accomplished in both real-time and time-laps modes and is available to the customer on your choice of VHS tape, Quicktime or DVD format. Ten (10) uncompressed digital video circuits in each direction are available between the IPF and the Western Range to meet customer requirements.
.Data communications interfaces are available to transport any RS-xxx or TTL signals from 1Kbs-30Mbs between SLC-8 and the IPF or to the Western Range. 28 T1 circuits (1.544Mbs each) exist between SLC-8 and the IPF and between the IPF and the Western Range for customer use. DS-3 circuits (45Mbs each) exist between the IPF and the Western Range for customer use.
.Cabling Infrastructure is also available including customer dedicated single-mode and multi-mode fibers, CAT-5, CAT-3, Coax and Twinax cabling with interfaces throughout the IPF, SLC-8 and to the Western Range.
.Launch and satellite processing specific Comm. systems such as; Area Warning, GPS IRIG timing, Status and Alert, Countdown timing, Weather, Missile Lift-Off and Film camera control are available for customer use at the IPF and SLC-8 along with the required Western Range interfaces.
.RF systems are available at SLC-8 with capability for both S-band from SLC-8 to the Western Range and C-band bi-directional.
.Internet access is provided to our customers with dedicated firewalls and NATed sub-nets with VPN capability on request. Isolated network segments are configurable to meet customer requirements and customer corporate networks can be extended to both the IPF and to SLC-8.
