Highbay

 

Originally provided as an inspection, assembly and payload erection facility for very large payloads, in addition to providing an access area to the Payload Checkout Cells, Highbay capacity allows use for full processing of payloads and/or booster components.


    * Class 100,000 clean (10,000 functional)

    * Access to the Highbay is through the 24' (9.5M) wide 28' (11m) door from the Airlock.

    * Work area is 30' X 124' 07" (11.8m X 57.9m)

    * 75 ton bridge crane.   The hook height in the Highbay is 86'-4" (34m)

    * ESD dissipative, fuel, oxidizer, and cleanroom compatible epoxy paint on floor

    * Continuous monitoring and alarm of Particle Counts, Humidity, Propellants, Hydrocarbons, Positive Pressure and Temperature

    * Shop Air

    * Central Vacuum System

    * Explosion proof fixtures

    * 125, 208 and 480 VAC facility power, 120/208 VAC tech power

The Airlock and the Highbay are on Level 64

The Highbay fronts the three Checkout Cells, with the Transfer Tower base on the east and the Airlock on the west. Checkout Cell #1 is accessed through the yellow doors on the right.

Checkout Cell #3 is accessed through the blue doors on the left. Cell 3 was built to extreme EMI shielding requirements.
